Suzanne Seeley — Class of ’66
(Now, Suzanne G. Beyer)
A correction to the March 2011 classnotes:
I’ve co-written a book called, “The Inventor’s Fortune Up For Grabs” by Suzanne G. Beyer and John S. Pfarr.

The true story centers around the millions my Great Uncle Art Hadley made with his invention of the expansion bracelet, patented February 11, 1913. Although Great Uncle Art loved beautiful women, drank bootlegged booze and drove an Auburn Boattail Speedster sports car in the Depression, he was also a creative genius. The expansion bracelet became the forerunner to today’s popular expansion watchband.
After Art’s son and daughter died, Art’s fortune was up for grabs. The book is written from two perspectives — that of John Pfarr, the lawyer who takes the reader on a 6-year behind-the-scenes legal rollercoaster ride, to the Rhode Island Supreme Court and beyond… and me, one of his clients who shows the joys, sadness, family unit and even family betrayal over the 6-year period.
Art’s sister, Una Hadley Gay, was my grandmother, a staunch Vermonter who was married to Leon S. Gay, a Vermont senator.
